Type Locality and Naming

North Zhejiang. The Luojiamen Fm was named by the Zhejiang Party of Regional Geological Survey in 1975 (Guidebook of 1: 200 000 Scale of Geological Map of Zhuji Sheet). The typical section is situated in Luojiamen village of Fuyang County, Zhejiang Province.

Synonym: (骆家门组)


Lithology and Thickness

Lowermost Luojiamen Fm is composed of greenish gray massive conglomerate. Lower part consists of sandy conglomerate, pebbly medium-to coarse- grained sandstone and banded medium grained sandstone intercalated with acidic volcanic rock. Middle part is flysch rhythmites composed of gray silty mudstone, mudstone and siliceous mudstone. Upper part is flysch rhythmites composed of fine sandstone to siltstone and mudstone. Southward to Pujiang, it is intercalated with volcanic rocks like basic pyroclastic rock, spilite, etc. The total thickness is 1920 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The Luojiamen Fm rests unconformably on the underlying Shuangxiwu Gr (Zhangcun Fm)

Upper contact

It is disconformably overlain by the greywacke of the Hongchicun Fm

Fossils

The siltstone yields microplants Pseudozonosphaeridium sp., Nucellosphaeridium sp., Margominuscula rugosa, Turuchania sp., Granomarginata prima etc.


Age 

SHRIMP U-Pb dates of 832-791 Ma (Gao Linzhi et al., 2014). early-Late Qingbaikouan (middle Tonian) on schematic stratigraphic column.
